Laser breath

GRACETOWN

Went to GT for the weekend to do some chores. BBQ not working etc.
Arrived down Saturday after Greek. New highway is just fantastic. Did
some cleaning up then went into Winos fοr dinner. We shared a really
nice bottle οf white. I then had a very disappointing barramundi dish
served with a few prawns and cherry tomatoes with some wilted spinach
on top. Very ordinary.
Sunday, surf was up. Oiled the decks and furniture, fixed the BBQ and
restocked the house. Everything looks great. Beautiful kangaroo paws
on side of road. Drove past the Holls block and home with laser breath
in the back!

Strawberry and Pistachio Desssert

Fantastic - I will not type it out - it can be found on page 154 of the November 2009 Gourmet Traveller and is featured on the front cover. The filing is made with yoghurt so is not too rich. And the yoghurt balances the sweetness of the syrup and strawberries very well.

Fishing with Emmanuel

Emmanuel took us out at dusk to fish for Benito. We went off the point
and trolled. Aparrently you need to go very fast to catch them. We had
a line with about 6 lures. No bites and no-one else out there was
catching anything.

Γεμιστά

Out neighbour Jeffrey from Melbourne gave us some gemista he had
cooked. Delicate perfect peppers stuffed with rice, herbs, currants
and pine nuts - all gathered from the markets in Turkey. Every bit as
delicious as they looked.

Turkey in the distance

The long walk

We decided to walk around the road to the Paleocastro - the highest
point on the island rather than walk straight up the goat track. It
was terrible. We had to walk uphill for nearly an hour. Fortunately it
was downhill all the way home. The next way I did the steps first and
had the long walk on the road home.

Morning light

Sitting on balcony waitng for girls to wake and this is the view.
Amazing. A cruise ship is coming in to the bay (volcano crater). It is
so peaceful and incredibly beautiful.
