Sculptures by the Sea

On a rather overcast day last week Simon, Leo and I went along to see the Sculptures by the Sea. It was mid morning and the beach was busy. Leo was not allowed on the beach and rather reluctantly stayed up on the lawn. My favourite was the emus made of tyres. There were many other installations I did enjoy including the cubes tumbling on the groyne, and the seagull with 1 leg (although he was a moving and not a static exhibit!). What a wonderful way to spend a morning - I think Leo most enjoyed the road kill.

January Long Weekend

The family came down to Gracetown for the long weekend. We had perfect weather, went for lots of long walks - or at least some of us did, and didn't stop eating for three days. George, Charter and Leo particularly enjoyed the walks. This is a picture of the North Point walk as we made our way down to the beach. As we got down toward the water we let Leo off the lead and he led the way. Jane and Bill joined us for dinner one night, Janne and Pip another. A great weekend.

I collected some abalone (too easy under those conditions) and took some great pictures. Leo loved racig across the semi-submerged reef. We came across a black swan swimming gracefully in the shallows at Huzzas. It was not at all frightened of us - although I did keep Leo on a tight leash.

Kalgoorlie Visit

We went on this amazing trip through Menzies to Lake Ballard where we saw the surreal statues installed by Anthony Gormley some years ago. It was an extremely hot afternoon and I became quite heat stressed on the lake even though it was late in the afternoon. I loved my taste of Kal
